JERUSALEM, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv lost at home to Russia's champions CSKA Moscow 84-80 in the 27th round of basketball's Euroleague on Tuesday evening.

The visitors recorded their 18th victory of the campaign to date, out of 26 games, while the Israeli hosts remain with 10 wins from 25 games after a game that was played behind closed doors at the Menorah Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv.

CSKA started strongly and led 15-10, mainly thanks to three-pointers by Darrun Hilliard, but Maccabi took the lead, 23-21, just before the first quarter which ended 23-23.

The visitors immediately took back the lead early in the second quarter, and Will Clyburn's eight consecutive points set up a 40-28 lead in the 16th minute.

CSKA completed an impressive 16-0 run to increase the gap to 45-28, and 51-33 at halftime.

The gap rose to 22 points in the 24th minute, 61-39, and was set at 68-52 at the end of the third quarter.

Othello Hunter and Chris Jones brought Maccabi back into the game, and the gap was cut to 68-74 in the 35th minute and 75-78 with 3:03 minutes to go.

With 13.2 seconds to go, Tyler Dorsey made it 80-82 with a three-pointer, but Tornike Shengelia scored twice from the line with 7.3 seconds to the buzzer, securing the victory for CSKA.

Clyburn scored a team-high 21 points, and Hilliard added 17 points for CSKA.

Dorsey led Maccabi scorers with 20 points, with Hunter adding 14 more.

Maccabi will play their next game at home against Spanish side Valencia, while CSKA will face Anadolu Efes in Turkey. Both games will be played on Thursday.
