TEHRAN -- Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that the government of President Ebrahim Raisi will resume nuclear talks aimed at the revival of 2015 nuclear deal, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Wednesday.

"We are seriously reviewing the history of (nuclear) negotiations, and the new government will resume the talks," Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday. KHARTOUM -- Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on Wednesday denied any intention for the Sudanese army to seize power, following a foiled coup attempt carried out by armed forces officers on Tuesday.

"The (Sudanese) Armed Forces were the ones who foiled the coup attempt. We are convinced with the democratic transition and we have no intention of seizing the power," said Al-Burhan in a speech at Al-Markhiyat Military Camp, north of the capital Khartoum. (Sudan Army-Foiled Coup Attempt)


ALGIERS -- Former Algerian Interim President and former Speaker of the Council of the Nation (upper house of Parliament), Abdelkader Bensalah, died on Wednesday in Algiers at the age of 79, the official APS news agency reported.

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered flags to be flown at half-mast throughout the country for three days in honor of Bensalah. Algeria will hold his funeral on Thursday. (Algeria-Interim president)


JERUSALEM -- Jewish and Arab women rallied in Jerusalem on Wednesday to mark the International Day of Peace and call for a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine.

"We marched in Jerusalem, demanding the advancement of an agreement," Women Wage Peace, an Israeli peace group composed of Jewish and Arab women that organized the event, said in a statement. (Women's March-Israel-Palestinian)
