JERUSALEM, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Euroleague basketball game between Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv and Fenerbahce of Turkey, scheduled for Thursday evening in Tel Aviv, has been suspended due to an outbreak of COVID-19 in the visiting team.
The Israeli club on Monday said in a statement that the 23rd-round game had been postponed by the Euroleague after the Turkish team announced several coronavirus cases in the team and that it did not have enough players to place a roster for the game.
The Euroleague said in a statement that Fenerbahce requested the suspension after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves the team without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.
The Euroleague has not yet set a new date for the game.
Both teams have each played 19 Euroleague games so far this season, with Fenerbahce winning nine games and Maccabi eight ones.
