GAZA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Israel's military has warned medical officials and international organisations to prepare for the planned evacuation of Gaza City's one million residents ahead of an expanded offensive.

On Sunday, the Israeli army pushed tanks into residential neighborhoods in the city under the cover of airstrikes and artillery fire, heightening fears of a full-scale invasion of the densely populated enclave.
